"Gone away young, but never gone. Love never known, but passion strong."
Jessamyn Radcliffe, a headstrong Southern belle, has waited more than a century for the true love foretold to her on the day she died. Now the house she haunts has been sold to handsome history professor Bret Tyler. One look at Bret, and Jessamyn is certain he's the man she's waited for all these years.
But Bret has bought rundown Bonnie Doon plantation for his fiancée, Carla Stewart. How can the man of Jessamyn's prophecy be promised to another? She makes up her mind to win Bret for herself.
Practical Carla can't sense Jessamyn, but soon realizes that another entity dwells at Bonnie Doon. Though she refuses to believe in ghosts, Carla fears Bret has become obsessed with Bonnie Doon's former occupant and might give up his own life to be with her. To save him, Carla must find the reason for Jessamyn's haunting, a mystery tied to a fortune in Civil War gold.
Lace and Shadows edition by Lisa Wanttaja Paranormal Romance eBooks
This book was a great read. There's romance, suspense, and a paranormal twist with a surprise ending. Ms. Wanttaja has woven the characters well and believably.Professor Bret Tyler is a native of the Charleston area who has come back from `up north' to teach and buy a home for him and his fiancée. His plans take a strange turn when he is inexplicably drawn to a decrepit plantation house nearly two hundred fifty years old. What's more, it has a beautiful one hundred fifty year old ghost.
The ghost has a reason for wanting the house saved and believes Bret is not only there to do that, but is the man she would have met and fallen in love with, the night she died. She reveals herself and her feelings to Bret and eventually he returns them.
Bret's fiancée arrives earlier than planned and he is torn between a safe relationship with a woman he has known and been comfortable with since childhood, and one that can never be fully realized. In addition to this nearly impossible choice, the primary characters are pulled into a mystery involving a shipment of secret Civil War bullion. The answer to which is as old as the night the ghost died.
Happy conclusions.

Lace and Shadows edition by Lisa Wanttaja Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews
While the reader won't want put the book down, this reviewer recommends long, slow sips of this delicious southern romance with a delightful paranormal twist. Ms. Wanttaja's engaging story is a deftly crafted and imaginative take on a ghost romance with a conclusion that is both surprising and ultimately satisfying. The unforgettable tale of timeless love is full of secrets, hidden treasure and enchanting characters. This book is not to be missed.
Beautifully written romance featuring a very spirited spirit and the dashing young man who's purchased the mansion she haunts.
It all begins when Bret buys the Bonnie Doon mansion and sets about restoring it to its Civil War glory. Rumors of hauntings circle like mist, but Bret scoffs at all until he comes face to face with the fetching Jessamyn, the eighteen-year-old former inhabitant. At first wary of one another, the two find themselves falling in love with each other, not just because of their kindred souls, but despite Bret's engagement to another, Carla. When Carla arrives, the three are pulled into a hunt for the Bonnie Doon treasure which culminates in riches of all kinds.
Alhough the main love triangle pulls the reader through the tale, the fascinating and rich subplots of missed love, pirates, historical injustices and treasure provide wonderful details of life in the old south. Ms. Wanttaja has really done her homework and fabulously weaves the culture of both then and now exquisitely. I found myself fully engaged with the characters, as well as the Bonnie Doon mansion, and the historical aspects of honor, propriety and opportunity. An exceptionally plotted book that will leave you yearning for a trip to the south.
Southern belle Jessamyn Radcliffe haunts Bonnie Doon, an antebellum home in South Carolina, waiting for the true love prophesized more than a hundred years before. Could Bret Taylor, the home's new owner, be that man? Jessamyn believes so, in spite of the fact that Bret has purchased Bonnie Doon as the home he plans to share with his future bride. Jessamyn sets out to claim Bret for her own.
Professor Bret Tyler doesn't believe in ghosts, yet he feels a presence whenever Jessamyn is near. A chill in the air, a cold touch of something against his lips, the sound of feminine laughter make him reconsider. As his encounters with Jessamyn increase, as do his sightings of her shadowy form, and after she eventually introduces herself, he is forced to accept that she is real. He is enchanted.
But once Bret's fiancé arrives, how far will Jessamyn go to claim her lover? And what caused her to fall to her death in the first place? Will Bret and his assistant's research into the history of the home provide answers or create more questions?
Lisa Wanttaja takes the reader on an adventure into the past and weaves it into the present. Her descriptions of the characters and settings make the story come alive and draw the reader in with skill and vivid imagery.
Lace and Shadows was a joy to read--a book I'd highly recommend.
