In sharp contrast to Dr. Sanders other books, "Life Lessons" is not so much about a personal standard of conduct or morality but more about the philosophies that people that you encounter in life might adhere to. The Warrior Wisdom series illuminate a path that one should try to walk while striving to live an honorable life here on Earth. "Life Lessons" is more about understanding the driving forces behind those that would seek to dislodge you from that path. Again, the variety, depth and timelessness of the principles presented are impressive. What caught my attention more than once was that while reading a quote from hundreds of years ago I was able to point to several instances in the last week that lent credence to the authors point. I put the book down several times and shook my head and said "So that is why he/she/they did that..... and got away with it." I have spent my life seeking and studying to be the most upright and decent person I can be. It turns out there are other schools and schools of thought that literally promote a "Get your piece of the pie regardless of the cost." curriculum out there. I have enjoyed all of Dr. Sanders books because they help encourage me and inspire me on my chosen path. This book I found particularly helpful because it helped me gain insight into many mysteries I have encountered along the way in the behavior of others. When someone does something so outlandishly horrible or selfish instead of beating myself up trying to understand why, I can now somewhat see that they were taught that or shown that by someone else. It's another school of thought. I am not going to pass judgement, but I am better able to understand their motivation or mind set and possibly guard against it, predict it, disarm it before it damages me or those I care about. For filling in some of that piece of the puzzle I am grateful to Dr. Sanders and this book. I really recommend it.
